Translation Industry Snapshot: machine translation and AI - what's in it for translators?

The workshop will provide an overview of the state of play of today's translation industry (presenting the results of the European Language Industry Survey, with special reference to Croatia). 

Special emphasis will be given to the latest technological developments, highlighting the tools developed by the Commission and made available to stakeholders in the member states (eTranslation, other e-services), as well as those available locally (Croatian language technologies platform “Hrvojka” and large language models for Croatian). 

Presentations will focus on how practising translators can use those new technologies to their benefit, as well as what tools they have at their disposal to help them educate their clients (the machine translation literacy presentation) and to foster knowledge sharing amongst themselves (Knowledge Centre on Translation and Interpretation). 

Local university professors will also have an opportunity to participate in an informal exchange on European Master's in Translation (EMT) with a DG Translation (DGT). representative.
